Hasegawa's factory was established in 1941, primarily as a business educational materials on wood.

It was in 1961, however, now produce and offer scale plastic models to the market. In 1962 the scale model of the Yamato 1 / 450 was released and reached great success in the market, having sold over 150,000 units in the same year.
