Review AMX A-1 1 / 72 Liberty Quality

Posted by Marcelo On March - 23-2010

Box Art / Packaging

The packaging is a sturdy cardboard. They can be stacked five or six boxes on it that it will not be damaged. The Art Box is a profile of an A-1 1 / 10 G.Av.

amxliberty_01
Instruction Manual

The Instruction Manual is composed of two A4 sheets. The first contains the instructions for mounting on both sides and the second are the diagrams of painting and applying decals.

amxliberty_02

Decal

The decal comes in two sheets. The main sheet contains markings for three different aircraft: 1 / 16 ° G.Av. Esq Adelfi, 3 / 10 G.Av. Esq Centaur and 1 / 10 G.Av. Esq.Poker. The second piece comes with extra numerals. This is quite interesting because you can mount any of the three squadrons of aircraft.

Parts

Sorry, but I'm not a good photographer. I could not capture with clarity the lines in bas-relief kit. Now I'm writing is that I had the idea: I should have done a wash in it, before the pictures. But let's go anyway ...

The fuselage is divided into two halves along the length of the aircraft. The coverage of the back cover of the cockpit and instrument panel are part of this piece.

The two wings, two elevators and a drift. All parts are separated. The rails for missiles on the edge of the wings are part of the wing.

The refueling probe is packaged separately with a protective foam.

In truth, all pieces come in individual packages. The two halves of the fuselage comes in one and the wings, elevators and drift into another. Below we can see four more bags: Air inlets, nozzles pylons and sub-alar; external fuel tanks, trains-of-landing; Some other smaller parts.

It also comes packaged separately from the navigation lights, and other small pieces of color transparency.

Finally, the canopy, which is always in resin kits made by Vacuum-Form. Standard that all manufacturers should follow: Two pieces per kit.

Summary of the Opera: I think it's worth the investment of R $ 74.00 for the modeler who wants to have an AMX in your collection. For aficionados of FAB then, not a word!

This kit can be purchased with Mr Odair in http://www.libertyquality.com.br .

Review T-27 Tucano Premiere 1 / 72

Posted by Marcelo On March - 14-2010

Plus a small review of a kit that at first seemed to be interesting.

The box tricks, but the content reveals. It's the same old kit Premiere, with a new package.

Let's start with the image of the box. It is curious that the manufacturer has been wrong so far as to put in the box, the image of a Shorts Tucano. It is easy to identify, observe the placement of the engine leaks.
tucano01

The back of the box also comes with an unusual picture, because at first glance, the colors do not resemble the Brazilian Tucano.
tucano02

Kit

All injected plastic gray, is an old acquaintance ours.

The first tree contains the two halves of the fuselage, the elevators and the tip of the nose:
tucano03

The second comes with the halves of the wings and other smaller parts:

tucano04

tucano06

The two trees above are exactly the same present in the Shorts Tucano Premiere.

The third and fourth trees is that they bring the pieces that make the kit "Tucano Brazilian" and not "Tucano English":

tucano05

Those "missing square" in the trees are where, at the other kit has parts Shorts Tucano.

The tree of the transparencies brings the canopy, navigation lights and cockpit divider wall.

tucano07

Decal

Who remembers the old Tucano Premiere surely remember the decal. Are exactly the same, only this time produced by Travers.

tucano08

Instruction Manual

The instructions, not photographed, it is well explained. Printed on single sheet of brown coloration and folded in half. The explanatory text on the aircraft comes in English, French and Italian. According to the manual, two paintings are available: Smoke Squadron in the old pattern and FAB 1385 hidden.

My opinion

Is the kit ever. For those who want to ride a Tucano injected, is what you have. I do not recommend that you follow the instructions for painting and applying decals present in the instruction manual. A leaf "After Market" decal can be much more enjoyable. The FCM has good options. For those who like to assemble their models more detailed, I recommend the set in resin Commando 5. This set was produced to convert the Shorts Tucano Tucano in Brazil, but the parts can be used to leave this Tucano better.

Review T-34C Turbo Mentor 1 / 72 Sky-High

Posted by Marcelo On March - 14-2010

t-34c-turbo-mentor-sky-high-0011

Review of the T-34C Turbo Mentor in scale 1 / 72, manufactured by Sky-High.

Small History

The version that Sky-High presents this kit is the T-34C-1. What differs from the T-34C-1 T-34C is the possibility of carrying weapons. The first prototype of the T-34C made its first flight on 21/09/1973. Equipped with a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-25, he was the evolution of the T-34A with piston engine, used by the U.S. Air Force. In the U.S. Navy, the original version with piston engine was designated T-34B.

The original design is very old, with prototype flying in 1948 and acquired by the U.S. government over the years 50. Based on the Model 35 Beech Bonanza, the military version had 80% of the structural components of that.

Box Art

The box the kit is quite nice. Brings the T-34C No. 408 in the colors of the Argentine Navy flying, which I believe to be the Falklands / Malvinas. The information on the outside of the box are written in Ukrainian and English.

Kit

Molded in gray plastic and all in low relief, bringing a fair amount of dross (flash), but nothing worrisome. The mere use of sandpaper and this little inconvenience will be remedied. There are four parts trees, plus tree of transparency.

t-34c-turbo-mentor-sky-high-002

The instrument panels are embossed. The propeller comes with the traditional "pininho" for those who like it free. The cockpit even has the floor.

t-34c-turbo-mentor-sky-high-003

The bottom half of the wings is a unique piece. The holds of the trains-to-landing are nonexistent. Who likes to hold detailed, have a little work.
t-34c-turbo-mentor-sky-high-004

Figures of the pilot and copilot are present and their level of detail is reasonable to poor. I remembered the old Airfix figures pilots because they have a hole in the belly. Both figures come with the right arm in a separate piece, allowing ride with "pilot waving" or with a hand on the stick. Will the taste of each. The legs of a train-of-landing, the burrs a bit more complicated, the parts are thin and will have to be very careful not to break them at the time of cleaning.

The tree comes with two weapons pods canhãoes sub-alar and four rocket launchers.

t-34c-turbo-mentor-sky-high-005

Transparency is a little thicker and the frames of the canopy are not well defined. But is not nothing that can not be worked. I've seen far worse!

t-34c-turbo-mentor-sky-high-006

Decal

The decal comes with markings for one aircraft, which appears in Box Art Kit. Leaf very small and basic, the movie seems to be fine.

t-34c-turbo-mentor-sky-high-007

Instruction Manual

I came to photograph the manual, because I saw no need. It is a single sheet folded in half, making four pages. And detailed assembly instructions. Profile with the paint scheme. Indications of colors using the trademark of Humbrol paints.

My opinion

It is a kit that is worthwhile for those who like to assemble the aircraft used in the Falklands / Malvinas and / or aircraft to Latin American air forces.

For those who venture into research and get decal "After Market", the kit can be assembled with several other paintings and markings. For example, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, Morocco, Peru, Ecuador, Indonesia, Uruguay, among others.

Review F-5E Tiger II AFV Club 1 / 48

Posted by Marcelo On March - 14-2010

The kit is the code AR48102 and box art is very appealing. Bring the F-5E performing a curve to the right and behind him there is an F-15 in a closed curve to the left. The F-5E's box art is the 01 573 aircraft bearing the markings of the 64th FWS, 57th FWW, USAF.

The first surprise in the box is the presence of a mini-poster of the box art. For those who like to make paintings with the box art, is a great gift!

The decals seem to be good. However decals are always uncertain. We only know if they are really good time to apply them to the model. This kit comes with four options for markings:

- Royal Malaysian Air Force, 12 Squadron;
- Singapore Air Force No. 144 Squadron;
- U.S. Navy VFC-13;
- U.S. Air Force, 64th FWS, 57th FWW.

There is a small set of Photo-Etched in the kit. They are the mirrors to be installed in the canopy and railings on the walls of the air intakes of the engine:

Front and back of the first tree:

The holds of the trains-to-landing are well detailed. I am not a good photographer, so I opted to take the pictures close without using the flash:

The parts that make up the air intake of the auxiliary engine comes with the option of being assembled open or closed. The play is not leaked, then open the configuration there's concern that it is showing a 'hollow' of the model. However, detailing the painting of this piece will take some work:

Second tree. Duplex:

Details of the drift:

The trains-to-landing:

Lower surface of one wing:

Trees with transparencies:

Third tree. Duplex:

Details of instrument panels:

Details of the islands side:

Fourth tree, re-sided. This tree is provided in duplicate in the kit:

Tree Farm:

Sixth tree and three pieces that are provided out of the trees of the kit:

And finally, the last piece of kit. This also comes loose.

As said earlier in the review, I'm not very good at it. First I am not a good photographer and secondly because my time is short enough to produce something more detailed.

AFV is currently working on the design of the F-5F on the same scale. As you could observe the provision of parts, this kit has been designed with the possibility of future releases, with few modifications. In version F, must be present at least one version of decals for the Brazilian Air Force.

Review Goodyear Wheels Set for M923 Series 1 / 35 Real Model

real-model-m923-big-foot-wheel-135-000

The manufacturer sets the conversion and complete models in resin Real Model, Czech Republic, has become one of the most innovative brands in modern models and rich in detail.

The set of wheels in resin for the M923 military truck "Big Foot" is no exception. They are very well framed and backed with a lot of details that leave no obvious modern truck scale 1 / 35 with a really aggressive look and realistic.

The Sweet models is a specialized manufacturer of kits in scale 1 / 144, focusing on fighters of WWII. The only exception is the rule Sea King, released in five different kits, each with three choices of paint followed by beautiful sheets of decals Cartography - this is the high point of the kits.

The injected parts are decent, feature panels recessive, and extensive options for parts or variants Westland Sikorsky.
Tail rotors of five or six blades, air intakes of the turbines with or without shutters and two sizes of floats. The problem of model is the total absence of inner and transparencies, which are limited to the windshield.

Book Review M1 Abrams vs. T-72 Ural Osprey Publishing

Posted by Marcelo On October - 13-2009

osprey-abrams-vs-t-72-ural002

I confess that I was surprised with this book. Not what I hoped for - is better. The book of the Osprey "M1 Abrams vs. T-72 Ural - Operation Desert Storm" is a true parallel comparison between the two tanks.

Written by renowned Steven J. Zaloga, the book provides numerous photographs, drawings in cutting and color profiles of the two main battle tanks used by the main forces that participated in the 1991 conflict.

Full color, Zaloga's book shows not only external details of the vehicles but also shows internal details, rarely seen in other publications.

Book Review Mirage IIIEBR - Publisher ZLC

livro-mirage-iiiebr-001

Not long ago was so happy to receive and browse aviation. The research work carried out by Paulo Fernando Kasseb in his book "Mirage III EBR - DBR the Brazilian Air Force - FAB", published by FTA is an exquisite work.

With 122 pages, the book shows - and not merely that - all the conceptual and operational life of the Mirage IIIE / DBR in FAB. Filled with color photos and black and white, enriched with beautiful profiles Gilsomar Maroc, one of the most distinguished illustrators of aviation in the country, the work can not stay away from the shelf of any lover of modern military aviation in Brazil or worldwide.

livro-mirage-iiiebr-006

A printed note 10, work quality Kassebaparece at the outset, fantastic photos, text in Portuguese and English and lots of information for all types of tastes. If your interest is photography, has plenty. If you prefer technical data, also find several of them. If you search for information on painting, markings and type walkaround photos, the book does not let you down - it has all this and more.

I highlight the section devoted to armaments and the markings, with very useful data for modelers.

The hint is to buy this book. Highly recommended and a score of 10! Bring on more titles in the collection!
